-traveling by sea could have storms that drive ships off course. Ships could also sink. Greeks could only sail during the day -travel by lad was hard because the roads were unpaved and people had to either walk by foot or in carts pulled by oxen or mules. What goods from the Greek mainland were traded? What goods did the Greeks get in exchange?
Olive oil and pottery were traded from the mainland, grain, timber, and metal were given in exchange.
Why were ancient Greek communities isolated from each other?
Because of the geography of the area. There were many mountains and three seas
Because the Greeks didn't have much level land for farming or grazing cattle, they grew olives, grapes, and fruits and nut trees along the coast. They also raised sheep and goats who grazed on the steep hillsides.
How did the Greeks meet the challenge of not having much land level for farming or grazing cattle?
I predict that the ancient Greeks set up colonies and trade routes to overcome the problem of not having enough farmland to produce food.
Predication to fix the challenge of not having enough farmland to produce food?
Why did Ancient Greeks start colonies
The Greeks created colonies to produce enough food to feed everyone. Some people would go to another to farm and send food to the home.

The Greeks established colonies in 650 BCE in Asia Minor (present day turkey), France, Spain, Italy, Africa, and along the coast of the Black Sea.

1) How and why Monarchy led to the next type of government
The aristocrats realized how powerful they were and wanted some of the king's power. This led to the Oligarchy
2) How and why Oligarchy led to the next type of government
They abused their power and ignored the needs of the people. They also passed unjust laws that protected and increased their own wealth. This made the poor even poorer, so they turned to leaders who promised to improve their lives. The tyrants.
3) How and why Tyranny led to the next type of government
Tyrants are dictators. They improved some of the lives of the poor. There was no legal limits on their rules. They could be vulnerable to the people's opinions. The people wanted to rule
TYRANTS VS KINGS
Tyrants: - Cannot claim the laws of the land gave them the right to rule - No legitimate legal limits on their rule - Their children do not typically inherit their father's power - Take power by force, but are often popular - Many adopted changes that improved the lives of the poor, but not all - Could be vulnerable to the people's opinions Kings: - Rule because of the laws of the land - Are limited by the law - Do pass down their power to their children - Often take power peacefully
This might have affected the history of Ancient Greece because the other countries' people could have introduced other religions and ways of living to the Greeks. Also, growth of trade could have made Greece wealthy and thriving. There might've been cultural diffusions between the Greeks and the people of other lands.
When the ancient Greeks met people from other countries, would this have affected the history of Ancient Greece?
The islands between the Greek mainland and Asia Minor would make travel to Asia Minor more difficult because the Greeks would have to go around the islands. But, travel to Asia Minor would have been easier because of the islands dotted in the Aegean Sea. Ships would have been able to stop along the route at these islands, resting and restocking if necessary.
Would the islands between the Greek mainland and Asia m in or make travel to Asia Minor more difficult?
Where did the ancient Greeks mostly settle?
