Sulcus
- Furrow along a bone surface that accommodates a blood vessel, nerve, or tendon. - Ditch shape.
Condyle
- Large, round protuberance at the end of a bone. - Condylus→ knuckle.
Tuberosity
- Large, rounded, usually roughened projection. - Large end of Condyle.
Line
- Long, narrow ridge or border. - Less prominent than a crest.
Fissure
- Narrow slit between adjacent parts of bones through which blood vessels or nerves pass. - Crack.
Foramen
- Opening through which blood vessels, nerves, or ligaments pass. - foramen→ hole
Epicondyle
- Projection above a Condyle. - Epi→ above. - Knobs.
Crest
- Prominent ridge or elongated projection. - Shoulder blade.
Head
- Rounded articular projection supported on the neck of a bone. - Closest part to the center of the body.
Fossa
- Shallow depression. - Fossa→ trench. - Cup shape.
Spinous Process
- Sharp, slender projection. - Projections from spine.
Tubercle
- Small, rounded projection. - Tuber→ knob. - Small end of Condyle.
Facet
- Smooth flat articular surface.
Meatus
- Tubelike opening. - Meatus→ passageway. - Ear canal, long tube.
Trochanter
- Very, large projection.
