Calcium homeostasis
3 in the kidneys,PTH also promotes the formation of active vitamine D which increase calcium absorption from the small intestine
...
Calcitonin: is secreted by the thyroid gland when blood calcium levels are too high it decrease osteoclast activity
...
If there is no Vitamine D or a deficit, it cause osteoporosis, its common in the female , to prevent osteoporis we can exercise weight bearing excersis, replacement hormones, and nutrition
...
1 PTH indirectly stimulates osteoclast to break down bone and release calcium into the blood Calcitonin inhibits osteoclasts Osteoblast remove calcium from the blood to make bone
2 In the kindneys, PTH increase calcium reabsorption from the urine
When blood calcium levels are too low, osteoclast activity increase, osteoclast relase more calcium from the bone into the blood than osteoblast remove from the blood to make new bone
Blood calcium levels are too high osteoclast activity decrease, Osteoclast release fewer calcium from bone into the blood than osteoblasts remove from the blood to produce new bone
Calcium homeostasis: is essential for our survival
Calcium blood has to be 9mg/dl We need to take 1000mg/dl of calcium We discharge 300mg/dl of calcium through the urine
Osteoblast: build new bones
Osteoclast: break down bone
PTH also regulates blood calcium levels by increasing calcium uptake in the small intestine, Increased PTH promotes the activation of vitamine D in the kidney, and the vitamine D increase the absorption of calcium from the small intestine.
PTH also increase the reabsorption of calcium from the urine in the kidneys which reduce the amount of calcium lost in the urine
Calcium homeostasis is maintained by three hormones: Calcitonin from the Thyroid Gland : promotes storage of calcium in bones PTH from the Parathyroids Gland: promotes release of calcium from bones to blood Calcitroil: promotes calcium absorption from GI tract
PTH: is the major regulator of blood calcium, when blood calcium levels are too low, stiumulates an increase in the number of the osteoclasts, which break down and elvates blood calcium levels
