Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

provides federal protection for the privacy of personal health information; applies to info created or received by a health care provider, employer, life insurer, school or university

Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

provides up to twelve weeks or job protected leave and benefits to employees seeking time off for work for certain family and medical reasons.
