What is the difference between a closed-end car lease and an open-end car lease?
A closed-end car lease requires you to make a fixed payment based on estimated usage. At the end of lease, you return the car and pay for the excess mileage. When you return the car after the lease ends, you must make a payment based on its appraised value at the time compared to the residual value. You don't have to pay anything or you may receive a refund if the appraised value is greater than the residual value, but if the appraised value is less than you must pay the difference.
