List differentiate between the three different states of hemoglobin

Oxyhemoglobin (formed in lungs), deoxyglobin (formed in tissues), carbaminohemogloin (CO2 bound to GLOBIN)

List the components, and subcomponents, of the blood

Plasma, erythrocytes, Buffy coat: leukocytes (WBC) and platelets, formed elements

Transport, regulation, protection

Describe the three functions of blood

Transport: Blood transports oxygen, moves waste to the kidneys and lungs and transports endocrine hormones Regulation: Regulates Ph levels, maintains body temp and maintains blood volume Protection: Prevents blood loss (clotting), gets rid of infectious agents, immune system comments: WBCs antibodies compliment proteins

Describe the structure of hemoglobin

Two parts: Globin- protein component: four polypeptide chains (2 a chains, 2 beta chains) Heme- nonprotein component Iron atom, o2 atom
