A log cab in Kentucky. He then moved to Indiana which would soon be the 19th state in the Union.

At the age of nine, what happened?

Abe's mother died. He and his sister, Sarah, met their new stepmother a year later. Sarah Bush Johnson Lincoln was extremely kind.

Over the next 11 years, the couple had how many children?

Four sons. His son, Eddie, died when he was 3 1/2.

At the age of 23 in 1832, Abraham ran for the Illinois state legislator and lost. He lost again in 1834 but was chosen to be a representative which hardly made any money, so what did he decide to do?

He decided to become a lawyer and in 1837, he passed his exams and was admitted to practice law. He then moved to Springfield, Illinois.

Who was Abraham named after?

His grandfather who had been killed by an Indian.

Yes, in 1846 he was elected to the House of Representatives. He took a very outspoken stand against a war with Mexico which damaged his political career. He was disappointed and went back to being a lawyer.
