Algernon is a white lab mouse that races Charlie. Algernon had the same surgery as Charlie did and it worked. When Charlie first races Algernon, he loses to him and he kept winning (10 times).

The first sign to show that Charlie is changing is that he starts spelling some words correctly. A change in his studies he started listening to these tapes at night. Changes in the laboratory are that he started beating Algernon and he is visualizing pictures in the inkblots.

The point of view of the telling of the story is 1st person or Charlie. Charlie telling the story makes me feel pretty sad because he is thinking that all the people are his friends even though they aren't and unfortunately he has to learn it the hard way.
