They thought he was nervous and fidgety and kind of gives Charlotte the creeps. Zachariah and Charlotte plot the second mutiny with Keetch, but they don't realize that old Keetch has actually been in cahoots with the captain this whole time.

How did Charlotte and Zachariah misjudge Keetch?

Zachariah declares Charlotte the new captain.

How did Charlotte assume her role as captain?

She was excited but then she found out that her clothes were dirty.

How did Charlotte feel as she dressed in her own clothes to go ashore?

She wants a friend because she doesn't have a lot of friends since she got off the ship.

How did Charlotte react when servants waited on her at home?

Captain Jaggery chases Charlotte out onto the bowsprit and then Captain Jaggery lost his footing and fell into the water.

How did Jaggery meet his death?

Zachariah is the only one who can go to the authorities about the Captain, so Charlotte wanted to keep that plan alive. She sacrificed herself by not telling the Captain about Zachariah. Even though it practically costs her her life, she did a great honor in protecting Zachariah and the plan.

What did Zachariah mean when he said to Charlotte, "It does you honor"?

She's worried about what's gonna happen to her

Why did Charlotte become sad as the ship approached providence?

She was stalking the newspaper to know the Seahawks next departure. She found out the captain and the next departure. She escapes secretly and went back on the Seahawk.

Why did Charlotte bribe her servant Bridget to bring her a newspaper each day?

Captain Jaggery charges Charlotte with the murder of Hollybrass

Why did Charlotte fear her forthcoming trial?

To get back on the Seahawk.

Why did Charlotte sneak out of her house in the middle of the night?

They did not help Charlotte because they had thought Zachariah killed Mr. Hollybrass

Why did Charlotte think that the crew did not defend her?

Charlotte's father says her journal is filled with "unnatural" tales. He criticizes her spelling, and says she's forbidden to talk about the voyage with her brother and sister.

Why did Charlotte's parents destroy their daughter's journal?

I think that the argument between Captain Jaggery and First Mate Hollybrass provoked Captain Jaggery because Captain Jaggery has a VERY short temper and that he will kill people at the drop of a hat.

Why did Zachariah conclude that Jaggery's argument with Mr. Hollybrass provoked him to violence?

Zachariah wants Charlotte to go because captain Jaggery is going to kill her anyway. When she does go in there her plan is to take the muskets and if she gets all the muskets everybody will have the guns except captain Jaggery and then everyone will go against him because he doesn't have any guns.

Why did Zachariah want Charlotte to go to Jaggery's quarters despite the risk?

Cause she didn't want to harm him and the captain tells her she lied.

Why didn't Charlotte defend herself by accusing Zachariah?

She thought he was dead. She thought this was her imagination.

Why didn't Charlotte welcome the presence of Zachariah when she was first placed in the brig?

Because keetch and ewing (or someone else) didnt wake her up for her shift becuase Cpt. Jaggery told them not to. Moreover, they thought she was the one who murdered Hollybrass.

Why was charlotte allowed to sleep late on the morning after the hurricane?

Because they lie about who's a hero and who's not

Why wouldn't Charlotte trust any future accounts of deceased heroes?
