Circulatory System
Left Ventricle
Blood leaves the heart through the aortic valve, into the aorta and to the body. This pattern is repeated, causing blood to flow continuously to the heart, lungs and body.
Right Ventricle
Blood leaves the heart through the pulmonic valve, into the pulmonary artery and to the lungs.
Capillaries
Different types of capillaries exist and perform different functions for the body. Primarily, however, they are able to profuse the tissues of the body with needed oxygen and important nutrients supplied by blood.
Capillaries
A capillary is an extremely small blood vessel located within the tissues of the body, that transports blood from arteries to veins.
Arteries
Arteries are tough, elastic tubes that carry blood away from the heart. As the arteries move away from the heart, they divide into smaller vessels. The largest arteries are about as thick as a thumb. The smallest arteries are thinner than hair. These thinner arteries are called arterioles.
Left Atrium
Blood flows from your left atrium into your left ventricle through the open mitral valve. When the ventricles are full, the mitral valve shuts. This prevents blood from flowing backward into the atria while the ventricles contract (squeeze).
Right Atrium
Blood flows from your right atrium into your right ventricle through the open tricuspid valve. When the ventricles are full, the tricuspid valve shuts. This prevents blood from flowing backward into the atria while the ventricles contract (squeeze).
Veins
In the circulatory system, veins (from the Latin vena) are blood vessels that carry blood towards the heart. Most veins carry deoxygenated blood from the tissues back to the heart; exceptions are the pulmonary and umbilical veins, both of which carry oxygenated blood to the heart. Veins differ from arteries in structure and function; for example, arteries are more muscular than veins, veins are often closer to the skin and contain valves to help keep blood flowing toward the heart, while arteries carry blood away from the heart.
Heart
It is a very important organ (a part of our bodies,) and it is in charge of pumping the blood through all of our veins and arteries.

Blood Vessels
Oxygen is the most important nutrient carried by the blood. Arteries carry oxygenated blood from the heart to all the structures of the body. Capillaries are very small, permeable vessels at which the exchange of water and chemicals between the blood and body tissues takes place. The veins carry deoxygenated blood from the capillaries back to the heart.
Plasma
Plasma is mostly made up of water, but also contains proteins, sugars and salt. In addition to carrying blood cells throughout the body, plasma also carries hormones, nutrients and chemicals, such as iron.
Plasma
Plasma is the liquid part of the blood. Approximately half of your blood is made of plasma. The plasma carries the blood cells and other components throughout the body. Plasma is made in the liver.
Platelets
Platelets are blood cells that help stop bleeding. When we cut ourselves we have broken a blood vessel and the blood leaks out. In order to plug up the holes where the blood is leaking from the platelets start to stick to the opening of the damaged blood vessels. As the platelets stick to the opening of the damaged vessel they attract more platelets, fibers and other blood cells to help form a plug to seal the broken blood vessel. When the platelet plug is completely formed the wound stops bleeding. We call our platelet plugs scabs.
Red Blood cells
Red Blood Cells are responsible for carrying oxygen and carbon dioxide. Red Blood Cells pick up oxygen in the lungs and transport it to all the body cells. After delivering the oxygen to the cells it gathers up the carbon dioxide(a waste gas produced as our cells are working) and transports carbon dioxide back to the lungs where it is removed from the body when we exhale(breath out).
Right Ventricle
Right ventricle: Receives blood from the right atrium and pumps it to the main pulmonary artery. The main pulmonary artery extends from the right ventricle and branches into left and right pulmonary arteries, which extend to the lungs. Here oxygen-poor blood picks up oxygen and is returned to the heart via the pulmonary veins.
Circulatory System
The Circulatory System is responsible for transporting materials throughout the entire body. It transports nutrients, water, and oxygen to your billions of body cells and carries away wastes such as carbon dioxide that body cells produce. It is an amazing highway that travels through your entire body connecting all your body cells.
Atria and ventricles
The atria and ventricles work as a team — the atria fill with blood, then dump it into the ventricles. The ventricles then squeeze, pumping blood out of the heart. While the ventricles are squeezing, the atria refill and get ready for the next contraction.
Blood Vessels
The blood vessels are the part of the circulatory system that transports blood throughout the body. There are three major types of blood vessels: the arteries, which carry the blood away from the heart; the capillaries, which enable the actual exchange of water and chemicals between the blood and the tissues; and the veins, which carry blood from the capillaries back toward the heart.
Circulatory System
The circulatory system is an organ system that passes nutrients (such as amino acids, electrolytes and lymph), gases, hormones, blood cells, etc. to and from cells in the body to help fight diseases, stabilize body temperature and pH, and to maintain homeostasis.
Right Atrium
The up right chamber of heart known as the right atrium receives the deoxygenated blood from all over the body. This blood is then passes to the right ventricle through a tricuspid valve which is then sent to the lungs for oxygenation.

The heart has four chambers. The two ventricles (right and left) are muscular chambers that propel the blood out of the heart (the right ventricle to the lungs, and the left ventricle to all other organs). The two atria (right and left) hold the blood returning to the heart, and at just the right moment empty into the right and left ventricles.The four heart valves keep the blood moving in the right direction through the heart.
Heart
The heart pumps the blood, which carries all the vital materials which help our bodies function and removes the waste products that we do not need.
Left Atrium
The left atrium is one of four chambers in the human heart. It receives oxygenated blood from the pulmonary veins, and pumps it into the left ventricle, via the mitral valve.
Left Ventricle
The left ventricle is one of four chambers (two atria and two ventricles) in the human heart. It receives oxygenated blood from the left atrium via the mitral valve, and pumps it into the aorta via the aortic valve.
Right Atrium
The right artium receives blood returning to the heart from the rest of the body. This blood is now low in oxygen and high in carbon dioxide, so when the atrium contracts, it pushes this un-oxygenated blood out and into the right ventricle, which will then sent the blood to the lungs to become oxygenated again for the process to start all over. This all happens in one heart beat.
Right Ventricle
The right ventricle is one of four chambers (two atria and two ventricles) in the human heart. It receives deoxygenated blood from the right atrium via the tricuspid valve, and pumps it into the pulmonary artery via the pulmonary valve and pulmonary trunk.
White Blood cells
White Blood Cells help the body fight off germs. White Blood Cells attack and destroy germs when they enter the body. When you have an infection your body will produce more White Blood Cells to help fight an infection.
