GMC History

GMC was first established in 1879 as Middle Georgia Military and Agricultural College; the school was located on the old capital square in Milledgeville; was renamed Georgia Military College in 1900; served as a high school from 1879-1952 for Milledgeville and Baldwin County; GMC added the junior college program in 1930 and began offering associate degrees; GMC was designated an Honor Military Academy in 1932; the school was designated as a military institution by the United States War Department; the school was designated as a military junior college in the 1950s

GPA

GPA is obtained by dividing the total number of quality points (QP) earned for courses by the total number of credit hours. Quarterly GPA is obtained by adding the total number of quality points earned for the courses in any one quarter and dividing that total by the total number of credit hours carried in that quarter. Cumulative GPA is obtained by adding the total number of quality points earned for all courses taken and dividing that total by the total number of credit hours taken.

Distinguished Order of the Servant Leader Award

Students who participate in 100 hours of community service in one year will receive this award as well as a notation on their transcript; award consists of a certificate signed by the President and a medal

Test Taking Hints

Testing practice: while studying, test yourself by developing questions on the material, using the summary questions at the end of the chapter, and by using flashcards Anxiety control: anxiety blocks memory; do some physical exercise to limber up. Take deep breaths. Cramming may only increase your anxiety and confuse your memory Get familiar: look over the whole test; Read the instructions. Note the credit for each question, the time limit, and the number of questions
