Beaker

A simple container for stirring, mixing and heating liquids commonly used in many laboratories. Beakers are generally cylindrical in shape, with a flat bottom.

Wash Bottle

A squeeze bottle with a nozzle, used to rinse various pieces of laboratory glassware.

Dropper

A tube for dispensing liquids in drops.

Buret

Accurately measures the volume of a solution that is transferred during a titration reaction.

Utility Clamp

Used to provide stability and support for other equipment by attaching the equipment to a ring stand.

Lab Burner

Used to modify laboratory experimental conditions above ambient temperatures.

Gas Bottle

A bottle used to collect large volumes of gas.

Wire Brush

A brush with steel bristles for removing rust, flaking paint, etc.

Glass Stirrer

Used to mix chemicals and liquids for laboratory purposes.

Bunsen Burner

A common piece of laboratory equipment that produces a single open gas flame, which is used for heating, sterilization, and combustion.

Crucible & Cover

A container in which substances are heated to very high temperatures.

Test Tube Holder

A device that as the name suggests is used to hold the test tubes in place and based on the uses and the type of test tubes there are many modifications that can be sought.

24 Well Plate

A flat plate with multiple "wells" used as small test tubes.

Forceps

A handheld, hinged instrument used for grasping and holding objects.

Pipestem Triangle

A piece of laboratory apparatus that is used to support a crucible being heated by a Bunsen burner or other heat source.

Evaporating Dish

A piece of laboratory glassware used for the evaporation of solutions and supernatant liquids.

Volumetric Flask

A piece of laboratory glassware, a type of laboratory flask, calibrated to contain a precise volume at a particular temperature.

Ring Stand

A piece of scientific equipment, to which clamps can be attached to hold test tubes and other equipment such as burettes.

Iron Ring

Attached to a ring stand and is used to support laboratory equipment above the work surface.

Pipet

Consists of two main parts: the bulb and the stem. Pipets are used for transferring and dispensing small volumes of liquids.

File

Etches glass so that the glass can be cut.

Assorted Rubber Stoppers

Fit tightly to prevent chemical leaks.

Safety Goggles

Forms of protective eyewear that usually enclose or protect the area surrounding the eye in order to prevent particulates, water or chemicals from striking the eyes.

Erlenmeyer Flask

Holds liquid, shape ideal for swirling without spillage, used for titrations. Never used to measure volume regardless of volume reading on flask.

Graduated Cylinder

Measures liquid volume accurately (usually between 5 and 100 mL)

Thermometer

Measures temperature, typically in degrees Celsius (+/- 0.2 oC uncertainty)

Scoopula & Spatula

Scoopula - spatula-like scoop utensil used primarily in chemistry lab settings to transfer solids. Spatula - used to transport and distribute dry chemical compounds.

Wire Gauze

Supports containers heated over Bunsen burners.

Micropipets (standard and narrow stem)

The micropipette is used to transfer small amounts (< 1 ml) of liquids.

Florence Flask

Used as a container to hold liquids.

Watch Glass

Used as a surface to evaporate a liquid, to hold solids while being weighed, or as a cover for a beaker.

Tongs

Used for grasping and lifting materials or labware.

Test Tube Rack

Used in laboratories to keep test tubes upright so that the equipment does not roll away, spill or become accidentally cracked.

Funnel

Used to channel liquid or fine-grained substances into containers with a small opening.

Corks

Used to contain liquids in test tubes and flasks.

Mortar and Pestle

Used to grind solid chemicals into smaller pieces.

Test Tubes

Used to hold, mix, or heat small quantities of solid or liquid chemicals, especially for qualitative experiments and assays.
