Convergent, Divergent & Transform Plate Boundaries
Transform Plate Boundaries
Boundary between two plates that are sliding past each other.
Ridges
Mountain chain that forms along the floor of the ocean. (E.g. Mid-Atlantic Ridge)
Subduction Zone
The region where oceanic plates sink down into the asthenosphere.
Convergent Plate Boundaries
Where two plates collide. A tectonic plate boundary where two plates collide, come together, or crash into each other.
fault lines
a line on Earth's surface that occurs where there is a break in the crust
Volcanoes
an opening in the Earth's crust through which molten lava, ash, and gases are ejected.
Divergent Plate Boundaries
tectonic plates spreading apart, new crust being formed (eg. mid-ocean ridges, rift valleys).
Continental Collision
when two continental plates collide pushing the continental crust up to form mountains
