How to Exclude an outlier from a view

-Press Ctrl and select the outlier. -On the tooltip that appears, click Exclude.

Filled map data source requirements

-Quantitative or qualitative values -Geographic locations recognized by Tableau or custom polygons

Symbol map data source requirements

-Right-click the outlier. -Point to Annotate. -Click Mark. -Use the Edit Annotation dialog box to create your annotation. -Click OK.

Density source data source requirements

-The data source for a density map must be made up of latitude and longitude coordinates or location names recognized by Tableau. - most effective when the location data is very precise, such as location coordinates in a limited space. - work best where the specific locations change continuously and smoothly across space, rather than values constrained to discrete locations such as district, borough, or neighborhood.

The basic building blocks for a pie chart

-the Pie mark type -a dimension on Color -a measure on the Angle option on the Marks card

How to adjust the intensity on a density map:

1.) Click Color on the Marks card. 2.) Drag the Intensity slider to increase or decrease the vividness of the map.

How to adjust the colors on a density map:

1.) Click Color on the Marks card. 2.) From the Color menu, select one of the Density color palettes or any of the other existing color palettes.

1.) Click Size on the Marks card. 2.) Drag the slider to increase or decrease the size of the marks on the density map.

How to edit the unknown location data:

1.) Click the special values indicator. 2.) In the Special Values for [Country] dialog box, click Edit Locations. 3.) In the Edit Locations dialog box, click one of the Unrecognized cells to match a known location to your unknown data. A search box appears. 4.) As you begin typing in the search box, Tableau generates a list of possible locations. Select a location from the list. 5.) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you've resolved all unknown locations.

How to edit the county location data:

1.) Click the special values indicator. (You can also open the Map menu and click Edit Locations.) 2.) In the Special Values for [County] dialog box, click Edit Locations. 3.) How to create a Density map:

1.) Connect to a data source with latitude and longitude coordinates (or location names recognized by Tableau). 2.) Switch to a new worksheet. 3.) In the Data pane, double-click the Latitude and Longitude fields to bring them to the view. Double-clicking ensures that Tableau places the Latitude and Longitude fields in the correct locations: with Latitude on Rows and Longitude on Columns. 4.) Add distinct marks to the view by adding a dimension to Detail on the Marks card. This should be an informative dimension associated with the coordinates to tell a meaningful story. For example, use a dimension that will produce noticeable data concentrations in the areas referenced. 5.) If the data set has more than 10,000 items, you might see the warning below. Click Add all members. 6.) On the Marks card, change the mark type to Density.

How to create a symbol map:

1.) Connect to a data source. 2.) Switch to a new worksheet. 3.) Drag a geocoded dimension (a dimension with a geographic role assignment), such as State, to the view. Tableau creates a map. 4.) Set the Marks card to Circle, if Tableau hasn't already selected it. 5.) Drag the first measure to Size on the Marks card. 6.) Drag the second measure to Color on the Marks card. 7.) As necessary, fine-tune the appearance of the marks, including their size, color and opacity.

How to create a filled map:

1.) Connect to a data source. 2.) Switch to a new worksheet. 3.) Drag a geocoded dimension, such as State, to the view. Tableau creates a map. 4.) Drag additional geocoded dimensions, as necessary, to Detail on the Marks card. 5.) Set the Marks card to Map, if Tableau hasn't already selected it. 6.) Drag a measure to Color on the Marks card. 7.) As necessary, fine-tune the appearance of the polygons, including their color palette and opacity. 8.) Add any other map details you wish to include. For example, add the state names to the map by dragging State to Label on the Marks card.

True

Negative Correlation

When measures have a negative linear correlation, high or low values in the measures show opposing trends. For example, maybe you're comparing a price increase with a sales decrease and see a negative correlation. In this view, Measure A starts at a high value and trends to lower values, while Measure B starts at a low value and trends to higher values. In this example, the marks trend from the top left to the bottom right.

positive correlation

When measures have a positive linear correlation, high or low values in the measures show similar trends. For example, maybe you're comparing a sales increase with a profit increase and see a positive correlation. In this view, Measure A and Measure B both start at low values and trend to higher values. In this example, the marks trend from the bottom left to the top right.

No Correlation

When measures have no correlation, values in the measures show no relationship. For example, maybe you're comparing the size of headphones with the price of headphones and see no correlation. In this view, there is not a correlation between Measure A and Measure B. The marks are spread all around the view.
