Definitions/Techniques - Prototypes
What is fidelity?
It is the completeness or maturity of the prototype
What is a verbal prototype?
It's a low fidelity prototype where you describe the changes to the user and get feedback. There is no physical prototype involved
What is a paper prototype?
It's a low fidelity prototype where you draw a crude visual representation of the proposed interface and get feedback.
What is a wizard of oz prototype?
It's a low fidelity prototype where you simulate features that cannot be recreated, usually verbal or gesture commands.
What is wire framing?
It's a medium/high fidelity prototype where you use powerful simulation tools to create a mock-up. Just like surveys, this can be distributed very quickly and does not always require human intervention.
How does evaluation affect prototype choice?
The prototype you make depends on the data you want. If you want time, you should choose higher fidelity prototypes
What is a physical prototype?
This is a high fidelity prototype where physical prototypes are made, such as a bluetooth speaker, etc.
