type of joint found at the base of each thumb; allows grasping and rotation joints of the thumbs
planar joint
2 flat surfaces, gliding movement. EX: between the carpals of wrist, mandible and temporal bone --moves forward and backwards

synovial joint that does everything except rotating knuckle joints, wrist joints
