1. start google search and get the results list 2. click on gear in upper right hand corner 3. Select "Advanced Search"
why isn't AND needed for Google search
Google automatically uses it when searching keywords
Why shouldn't you use a question as a search term?
It will search all the unnecessary words like how and what, so it is best just to use keywords
What is CTRL-F?
Its a search box that searches within the document. It appears in the top corner. You type in the word you are searching and it will tell you how many times it appears on the page. Use the up and down arrows to find the word in the text.
When do you use NOT?
you use not when in databases

Use this when searching Google

to broaden search use for synonyms of the same idea must be all caps

No spaced between colon and domain/website
What do you use if you want to find a specific keyword in a particular website?
Search a particular domain or website. site:gov site:nih.gov
When do you use quotes to search?
When you want to search for exact phrase. Make sure you put the quotes around the two or more words.
What you shouldn't you do when using a minus?
add a space, there is NO space between the minus and the words
