Use the drop-down menu to answer the question. A student is going to produce static charge in a glass rod by rubbing it with a piece of silk. Which method of transferring charge does this image illustrate?

friction

use the drop-down menus to answer the questions. How do objects with the same charge interact? How do objects with opposite charges interact? How do uncharged objects interact?

they repel each other they attract each other the have no effect on each other

Sonia was experimenting with electric charges. She tied two inflated balloons together, held them next to each other, and rubbed both with a piece of wool. What did sonia observe, and why?

Two inflated balloons when rubbed with woolen cloth will lead to repeal each other because of the similar charges on both the balloons. Rubbing both the balloons together by the woolen cloth will introduce negative charge in the balloons. As, we know that the same charges repeal each other both of the balloons with be apart from each other. This is due to the static electricity, the negatively charged particles jump to the positive one. When balloons are rubbed they become negatively charged.

Describe what happens to the electric field lines when two objects with unlike charges are brought near each other.

When two objects with unlike charges are brought near each other, their electric field lines combine, showing that the objects attract each other. Oppositely charged objects will exert an attractive influence upon each other. In contrast to the attractive force between two objects with opposite charges, two objects that are of like charge will repel each other. That is, a positively charged object will exert a repulsive force upon a second positively charged object. This repulsive force will push the two objects apart. Two electrons will tend to repel each other because both have a negative electrical charge. Two protons will also tend to repel each other because they both have a positive charge. On the other hand, electrons and protons will be attracted to each other because of their unlike charges.

As the amount of charge on two objects increases, the strength of the electrical force between the objects
