I found great satisfaction choosing aa industrial design college study as it allowed me to expand my interest and imagination into a wider world of functional products and it also refined, taught, and focused my creative skills. Also, industrial design addresses my academic background and interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). I discovered and developed this interest in my magnet STEM high school choosing an engineering track for study. It was further developed and exposed in my undergraduate experience at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I found the field of industrial design attractive and exciting because it allowed for creative design of solution for form, function, usability, sustainability, and positive impact for people and industry. 1. Tell us about a project you worked on.

One project that stands out to me is a studio project where I worked alongside General Electric appliances team to create a new interactive fridge concept aimed to help users manage their food items. I was able to start out with user research using surveys and interviews to help inform me of design opportunities. Then I came up with several ideas that I discussed with the GE sponsors. I created a prototype and interactive demo that I tested with users. I particularly enjoyed this project because it allowed me to explore all facets of the design process from research to final deliverable. I was able to gain insight into the decision-making process that takes place within the industry. With information derived from user testing, I finalized a concept and presented it to GE. The presentation was well received, and I felt positive about my work.

1. Tell us about a time you worked with someone you didn't get along with, and how did you overcome it?

One time when working on a group project, one group member missed meetings and disagreed with one of the design decisions that the rest of the group had agreed on. So, in this situation I discussed with her why she had a differing opinion and if there was any way we could compromise. After explaining the reasoning behind the group's decision, she understood our perspective and we allowed her to have a responsibility, so she had ownership,We wanted to challenge or criticize so without judgement we tried to understand and listen to her point of view without defending ours. We validated her points without judgment. After that it seemed she was more open to understanding our plan. We also identified and incorporated some of her ideas to make sure she was included. Made sure she was heard.

During these few years at Georgia Tech, I have been able to work on many sponsored studio projects as well as participate in research assistantship. These opportunities allowed me to understand users' needs, learn new software and prototyping techniques, and develop innovative concepts. I have worked individually and within cross disciplinary teams. I hope to bring these skills and further develop them at Dialexa.
