Position data within a cell by aligning, wrapping, rotating, and indenting.

Aligning Text: Select the cell and click an alignment button in the Alignment group on the Home tab of the Ribbon. Wrapping: To wrap text, select the cells in which you want to wrap text. Then click the Wrap Text button in the Alignment group on the Home tab of the Ribbon. Rotating: Select the cells whose contents you want to rotate. Click the Orientation button in the Alignment group on the Home tab of the Ribbon. Indenting: Use the Increase Indent button in the Alignment group on the Home tab of the Ribbon. To move the indent in the other direction, click the Decrease Indent button.

Apply and clear cell styles.

Clear Cells: At times, you might need to remove, or clear, all the formatting applied to a cell or range or cells. Select the cell or range, click the Clear button in the Editing group of the Home tab of the Ribbon, and then Click Clear Format. Only the cell formatting is removed; the cell content remains unchanged.

Change the appearance of cells using fonts, font sizes, font styles, colors and borders.

Fonts & Font Sizes: Select the cells you want to change. Then on the Home tab of the Ribbon, in the Font group, click the arrow next to the Font box. Click the font or size you want to use. Font Styles: To apply a font style, select the range you want to change. Click the appropriate style button in the Font group on the Home tab of the Ribbon. (Styles are bold, italics, and underline) Font and Fill Colors: To change color of text in a cell, select the cell you wan to change. In the Font group on the Home tab of the Ribbon, click the arrow next to the Font Color button. To change the background color of a cell, select the cell you want to change. In the Font group on the Home tab of the Ribbon, click the arrow next to the Fill Color button. Borders: To insert a border, select a cell or range, and then in the Font group on the Home tab of the Ribbon, click the arrow next to the Borders b

Designate the number format used for data stored in a cell.

To change number format, select the cell or range. Then, click the appropriate buttons in the Number group on the Home tab of the Ribbon. You can also click the arrow next to the Number Format box to open a menu of number formats.

Use the format painter to copy formatting from one cell to another.

To copy a cell's formatting, select the cell that has the format you want to copy. Click the Format Painter button in the Clipboard group on the Home tab of the Ribbon. Then, click another cell or drag to select the range of cells you want to format in the same way.

Find and replace cell formats.

To find and replace cell formats, click the Home tab on the Ribbon, then go to the Editing group.

Change column width and row heights.

Width: Resize the column width by placing the pointer on the right edge of the column heading until the pointer changes to a double-header arrow. Click and drag to the right until the column expands to the width you want. To specify the width, use the Column Width dialog box. Row Height: Place the pointer below the row heading until the pointer changes to a double-header arrow. Click and drag to the right until the row has the number of lines you want. To specify an exact row height use the Row Height dialog box. Using AutoFit: Place the pointer on the right edge of the column heading (or below the row heading) until the pointer changes to a double-headed arrow. Then, double-click to resize the column or row to the best fit.
