Billy Bone asks Jim to give him just one glass of rum. He tells Jim that he has always been good to Jim and curses the doctor when Jim tries to bring him up. All of this shows that Bill does not feel right unless he is drunk. He is addicted to rum and feels like he can't live without it.

Dialogue - He told the kid to watch out for another sailor so we know he is trying to either avoid this other man or get in contact with him.
