ominous

(adjective) Threatening, foreboding. Tells of a bad event in the future. Sentence: The skies were dark and ominous and told me that there would be a storm later tonight.

punctual

(adjective) always on time, prompt. Sentence: I try to always be punctual and arrive on time.

sacred

(adjective) devoted to some religious purpose. Sentence: I bowed my head when I walked into the very special, sacred site.

atrocious

(adjective) extremely shocking, wicked, cruel or brutal. Sentence: That horrible monster was atrocious and tried to bite my head off!

delicate

(adjective) fragile, easily broken or damaged. Sentence: That jewelry was delicate and had to be handled carefully or it would break.

urgent

(adjective) requiring immediate attention. Sentence: It is urgent the you call a doctor because I'm bleeding. OR, urgently (adverb). I yelled urgently for my mom because I was hurt.

inevitable

(adjective) unable to be avoided; certain. Sentence: It was inevitable that I got tired after working all day, there was no way I could stay awake past 10pm.

obnoxious

(adjective) very unpleasant; disgusting Sentence: The kid was being very obnoxious when he kept talking about his farts.

hopeless

(adjective) without results or success. Sentence: It was a hopeless search for my lost necklace. I couldn't find it anywhere!

nomad

(noun) A person who has no home but travels from place to place. Or nomadic (adjective). Sentence: That man is a nomad because he moves homes every two weeks.

destiny

(noun) An inevitable (definitely going to happen) course of events, determined by God or the Universe. Sentence: It is my destiny to become a teacher; I know it will happen.

ritual

(noun) The procedure or steps for a ceremony, done very carefully. Sentence: It was a ritual to light candles before the ceremony.

constellations

(noun) a group of stars that have been given names. Sentence: I looked at the constellations in the night sky.

Buddhism

(noun) a popular religion, founded in India and practiced around the world. Also Buddhist: someone who follows Buddhism. Sentence: I practice Buddhism and it brings me a lot of peace.

favor

(noun) an act of kindness or a good deed. Sentence: Will you do me a favor and make me lunch?

sorrow

(noun) sadness or distress. Sentence: I am full of sorrow because my dog died. Or, I feel sorrowful because my dog died.

survey

(verb) to examine or inspect a situation. Sentence: I surveyed the crime scene to figure out what happened.

resent

(verb) to show displeasure because of injury or insult. Example: I resented my brother because he called me mean names.

collaborate

(verb) to work with one another, cooperate. Sentence: My team collaborated on a project and worked very well together.

kinship

family relationship, either by birth, marriage, or adoption. Sentence: My mother is related to me by kinship.
