the Harlem Renaissance helped the creativity of African Americans, and their music, art, and writing flourished.

Why did the U.S. desire a return to "Normalcy"?

A lot of Americans wanted to return back to isolationism because they thought that being involved with other nation's would hurt their economy more, and that it could stop the country from expanding.

What made the 1920's "Roar"?

After World War I, the United States economy had a bit of trouble returning to a peacetime economy, but once it returned, a lot of things like products and wages increased, and people often made a lot of money investing in the stock market.

What was life like in the U.S. after the Red Scare?

After the Red Scare, the U.S. enforced laws that restricted immigration greatly, and it was mainly because the United States didn't want many outsiders in the U.S. but rather only Americans

What happened to Sacco and Vanzetti?

After the trial, the defense tried to win a different trial, but they couldn't, and eventually Sacco and Vanzetti were sentenced to death in the electric chair.

How did demobilization affect labor in 1919?

After the war, there was a big price inflation, and and all of the people who came back from war were competing for jobs, and that led to a lot of strikes against the industries.

How did the U.S. government shape the 1920's?

At that time, a lot of people believed that businesses did not need the government to intervene. Warren Harding had policies which cut spending, cut taxes, lowered national debt, and raised the price of tariffs, which helped business sell more cheaply at home.

How did banning alcohol affect life in the 1920's?

Banning alcohol helped reduce health problems during that time, but there were also negative effects, as it increased the amount of crimes having to do with illegally taking alcohol, and many Americans also didn't like the idea of prohibiting alcohol.

How did U.S. consumer culture change during the 1920's?

During this time, a lot of Americans began buying things for entertainment, and they bought a lot of things just based off of desire, rather than actually buying things for need. This meant that advertising began to rise and it began to expand throughout the country at that time.

How did conservative Americans react to the changes of the 1920's?

Most fundamentalists didn't like the new changes, as they believed that the traditional values of life should stay as they are.

How did economic changes affect farmers and factory workers?

Most workers were affected positively by the economic changes because their wage increased and their working hours decreased. For farmers, it was tough because the price of the crops began to decrease after World War I which made profit difficult.

How did popular culture change during the 1920's?

Music, especially jazz had a big role in culture, as did other forms of art such as writing, art, architecture, and movies.

What was life like for other minority groups?

Native Americans gained more rights and became a part of American life when the Indian Citizenship Act was passed by congress.

How can Americans afford the new products?

People didn't have to pay for products all at once, but instead could use installment plans which allowed them to be able to pay for something in small payments over time.

Why did the Ku Klux Klan rise again?

Racism in the South was growing, and the Red Scare increased tensions. There was also more overall hostility towards African Americans in the North.

How did African Americans leaders differ in their views of Civil Rights?

Some leaders believed that African Americans should improve in skills with marketing, while another said that they should improve in their art and literature. Another leader said that African Americans should just create their own society that doesn't involve white influence.

The Red Scare was when there was a lot of fear among americans that communism would eventually affect most of America.

How did U.S. manufacturing practices change during the 1920's?

There was a lot more use of mass-production, and some places used assembly lines to produce things which helped make production faster and more efficient.

How did the United States work with other nations during the Twenties?

There were a couple conferences that the United States attended such as the Washington Naval Conference and the London conference, and the United States also traded with Germany, and had financial interests in Europe.

How did women win the right to vote?

There were a lot of Women's Suffrage groups that pushed for the right for women to vote, and eventually they succeeded, as the 19th amendment gave women the right to vote.

Why did racial violence erupt in the 1920's?

There were riots occurring at that time, and there was also competition between different races for factory jobs which was a big cause for violence to erupt.

Who were Sacco and Vanzetti?

They were two people who were accused guilty of robbing a shoe factory. They went to court, and the jury accused them to be guilty of theft.

How did women's attitudes change society in the 1920's?

Women's attitudes helped push for equal rights and gave women the right to vote, as well as many other rights that made then more equal to men.
