What would happen if one body system did not interact with the other systems?

It would be hard for the body to perform its important functions. Since all systems are interconnected, if one does not work this affects how the others will function too.

How does the small intestine function differently from the large intestine?

Nutrients from food digested in the stomach are absorbed as they pass through the small intestine. Then the large intestine helps absorb water and remove waste from the body. The small intestine is four times longer than the large intestine.

How are the body systems used to address the basic needs of survival: food, water, air, shelter, and sleep.

The digestive system takes in food and breaks it down, then the circulatory system sends the nutrients to all parts of the body. The digestive system also takes in water which ends up in your blood. The circulatory system distributes it around your body. Taken in by your respiratory system. The oxygen in the air passes into your circulatory system. Found or built using your nervous system, muscular system, skeletal system and more. While you sleep, all your systems are still working, though some work more than others during this time.

How is the left side of the heart different from the right?

The left side of the heart receives blood from the lungs, which contains oxygen. The right side has blood with less oxygen. This is because the oxygen has been used up to help power other body systems.

How many systems are in the human body?

There are 11 main systems in the human body.

What happens when muscles contract?

They get shorter in size, which plays a role in helping a person move.

Why do the many parts of the body interact with each other?

They interact so that the body can perform many different functions such as breathing and moving. Your body wouldn't work if the systems didn't work together.

If a person's heart rate increases, how will this benefit the muscular systems?

When the heart rate increases more blood is pumped through circulatory system. This blood is sent to the muscular system to help your muscles work and keep the body moving.

Why is oxygen important for your body?

When we breathe, we take oxygen into our lungs. Red blood cells spread the oxygen from our lungs throughout our entire body, where it is used in the production of energy. That energy powers the body.

Why is it important to chew your food during digestion?

When we chew our food it helps us physically break down the food into small pieces. This makes it easier for it to pass through our digestive system and for the body to take nutrients from it.

What are body systems?

a group of organs and tissues that work together to do a job for the body, such as circulating blood or digesting food.
