What is the difference between data administration and database administration?
Data administration refers to a function that applies to an entire organization; it is a management-oriented function that concerns corporate data privacy and security issues. Database administration refers to a more technical function that is specific to a particular database including the applications that process that database.
Why is database administration important?
Database administration is important because of multiuser database applications, formal recognition, and complex tasks.
What is role of the database administrator?
Database administrator (DBA) is a person/group responsible for establishing policies and procedures to control and protect a database. They work within guidelines set by data administration to control the database structure, manage data changes, and maintain DBMS programs. The overall responsibility is to facilitate the development (development, maintenance, & operation) and use of a database and mini-applications.
