This statement made by me accurately sets out the evidence that I would be prepared, id necessary, to give in court as a witness. A police officer may, without a warrant, arrest a person if: The police officer suspects on reasonable grounds that the person is committing or has committed an offence, and

What section in LEPRA do Powers of Arrest come from?

Section 99

LEPRA s.99 (1)(b)

The police officer is satisfied that the arrest is reasonably necessary for any one or more of the following reasons:

IDENTITY

To enable enquiries to be made to establish the person's identity if it cannot be readily established or if the police officer suspects on reasonable grounds that the identity information provided is false,

APPEAR

To ensure that the person appears before a court in relation to the offence

PROPERTY

To obtain property in the possession of the person that is connected with the offence

EVIDENCE

To preserve evidence of the offence or prevent the fabrication of evidence,

HARASSMENT

To prevent the harassment of, or interference with, any person who may give evidence in relation to the offence

SAFETY

To protect the safety and welfare of any person (including person arrested).

FLEEING

To stop the person fleeing from a police officer of from the location of the offence,

COMMITTING

To stop the person from committing or repeating the offence or committing another offence.
