Mandate System

A system in which an "advanced" country would administer the affairs of a weaker country for a temporary amount of time.

Class C Mandates

Former German colonies in the Southwest and Pacific Islands, need most amount of aid. e.g. South Africa --> Britain

People of different ethnicity put together under foreign rule, which creates conflict

Class B Mandates

Territories formerly controlled by German Empire in Central and West Africa. e.g. Ruandi-Urundi --> Belgium

Class A Mandates

Territories formerly controlled by the Ottoman Empire, least in need of aid. e.g. Syria --> France
