Medical Terminology: The Nine Regions
Region II
Epigastric Region: middle of the two hypochondriac regions, specifically in the superior part of the abdomen. Body Organs: some of right/left lobe of liver and a huge portion of stomach
Region VIII
Hypogastric Region: mid-lower part of the abdomen, under region V. Body Organs: urinary bladder, appendix, part of small intestine
Region III
Left Hypochondriac Region: upper left part of the abdomen. Body organs: small part of stomach, some part of large intestine
Region IX
Left Inguinal Region/Left Iliac Region: lower left abdominal area, below Region VI. Body Organs: some of the colon and some of the small intestine
Region VI
Left Lumbar Region: mid-left abdominal area, under Region III. Body Organs: some of the small intestine, a portion of the colon
Region I
Right Hypochondriac Region: found in the upper part of the abdomen. Body Organs: gallbladder, liver's right lobe
Region VII
Right Inguinal Region/Right Iliac Region: lower right part of the abdomen, under Region IV. Body Organs: some of small intestine, the cecum
Region IV
Right Lumbar Region: found in the abdomen mid-section, under Region I. Body Organs: parts of small and large intestine
Region V
Umbilical Region: abdomen's mid-section, in the middle of the 2 lumbar regions, under Region II. Body Organs: some of transverse colon, some of small intestine
