(3) Muscles of the Ear
Auricularis Superior, Auricularis Anterior, Auricularis Posterior
Epicranius or Occipito-frontalis
Broad muscle that covers the top of the skull and consist of two parts, the Occipitalis and Frontalis
Occipitalis
Muscle that draws the scalp backward. Location is at back of head, back portion of the epicranius
Frontalis
Muscle that draws the scalp forward and causes wrinkles across the forehead. Location is at front portion of the epicranius, forehead
Aponeurosis
Tendon (connects muscle to muscle) that connects the occipitalis and the frontalis
Masseter
These muscles coordinate in opening and closing the mouth and are sometimes referred to as the chewing muscles
Temporalis
These muscles coordinate in opening and closing the mouth and are sometimes referred to as the chewing muscles
Platysma
broad muscle extending from the chest and shoulder muscles to the side of the chin responsible for lowering the lower jaw and lip. Location is shoulder to sides of chin
Corrugator
located beneath the frontalis and orbicularis oculi it draws the eyebrow down, wrinkles between the eyes and wrinkles the forehead vertically. Location is inner eyebrow.
Procerus
lowers the eyebrows and causes wrinkles across the bridge of the nose. It covers the bridge of the nose. There are other nasal muscles can contract and expand the openings of the nostrils.
Sternocleidomastoideus
muscle of the neck that lowers and rotates the head. Location is in neck.
Orbicularis Oculi Muscle
ring muscle of the eye socket; closes the eye. Location is around eye socket.
