What does formatting do?

Allows user to store and retrieve info by preparing the storage device for first use

What does system maintenance do?

Ensures performance over time doesn't degrade - bugs are found and fixed

What does spyware protection do?

Monitors for software watching the users activity (for passwords etc)

What does anti virus do?

Monitors incoming data for signs of infection from a virus (hidden in data files from the Internet)

What does a firewall do?

Prevent hackets gaining entry to computer via internet by monitoring packets going to IP address

What does defragmentation do?

Rearranges where on the device files are stored to optimise retrieval time

What does system cleanup tools do?

Remove unwanted tasks and unnecessary temporary files

What does system info and diagnosis do?

Tracks a computers performance by running diagnosis software regularly

What does file transfer do?

Updates system of new location information
