Ahmedi and her mother were near the gates because they wanted to get out of Pakistani, but they couldn't get closer to the gate because the guards used clubs and carbines as weapons. Guards drove them back by beating until the crowd receeded. The texts says Ahmedi and her mother were desperate to cross the boarder because the sun was setting and they didn't want to get stuck in the dark with no where to go and nothing to take in.
Why were Ahmedi and her mother near the gate to the Pakistani border? Why couldn't they get any nearer to the gate? Why was Ahmedi desperate to get through the border crossing to Pakistan?
