Affirmative action is a policy of favoring members of a disadvantaged group who suffer from discrimination within a culture. The least reasonable case for affirmative action is utilitarians. The reason being is because they are both for and against it. They are for it when its "good", when it creates positive results, for society but against it when its "bad" for society or creates negative results. There is really no clear stance because who determines whats "good" or "bad" for society. The most reasonable position about affirmative action are libertarians. Libertarians focus on the rights of the individual; and everyone has their own naturally inborn talents. So to use affirmative action would be unjust. Racial preferences shouldn't be among criteria for colleges because race does not reflect academic talent, effort or educationally relevant merit.
