Surveyor's Method (Metes & Bounds)

This is the oldest and most accurate method of legal description and can be used to describe regularly or irregularly shaped tracts of real estate using the following measurements and references: - Metes: Measurements of distance such as inches, feet, yards, and miles. - Bounds: Compass directions to property boundaries. - Monuments: Fixed objects used to establish boundaries. - Point of beginning: the main reference point from which the survey directions begin.
