Occipitofrontalis
Muscle covers the top of the skull. Consists of two parts. Draws the scalp posteriorly and anteriorly, causing eyebrows to raise and wrinkles on forehead
Depressor anguli oris
Arises from the amndilbe to insert into the anguli oris. Depresses the angle of the mouth
Masseter
Arising form the zygomatic arch and inserting in the mandible. A muscle of mastication. It closes the mandible
Temporalis
Arising in the temporal cavity and inserting in the mandible. A muscle of mastication and strongest chewing muscle. Closes the mandible assists in side to side movement of the mandible.
Platysma
Covers the anterior aspect of the neck. Wrinkles the skin of the neck and chest. Also depresses the mandible and anguli oris, as in pouting.
Procerus
Covers the bridge of the nose. Draws the skin of the forehead inferiorly, causing transverse and vertical wrinkles in the forehead.
Depressor labii inferioris
Depresses the lower lip inferiorly and slighly laterally.
Digastric
Double bellied muscle of the neck. attaches to the mastoid process and mandible. Draws the hyoid bone superiorly.
Zygomaticus minor
Draws the upper lip superiorly and laterally.
Levator labii superioris
Elevates and extends the upper lip
Zygomaticus major
Extends form the cheekbone to the angle of the mouth. Draws the upper lip posteriorly, superiorly, and laterally as in smiling or laughing.
Risorius
Fake smile muscle. Extends from the skin over the masseter muscles to the corners of the mouth. Draws corners of mouth posteriorly.
Orbicularis Oris
Puckering muscle. located in the upper and lower red lips and ingetumentary lips. Closes the lips, compresses lips against teeth. Shapes lips during speech.
Corrugator
Pyramid shaped muscle of facial expression. Lies beneath the frontalis and orbicularis oculi. Known as frowning muscle. Draws the eyebrows inferiorly and medially, as in frowning
Levator labii superioris alaque nasi
Raises the upper lip and dilates the nostrils
Levator palpebrae superioris
Runs from the inside of the ye socket to eh superior tarsal plate of the eyelid.. Raises the upper eyelid
Levator anguli oris
Small muscle at the angle of the mouth. Elevates the angle of the mouth
Orbicularis oculi
Sphincter surrounds the eye socket. Closes the eyelid and compresses the lacrimal sac.
Buccinator
The muscle of the cheek. Originates in the skin over the molar teeth and inserts into the ksin at the anguli oris. Compresses the cheek and pulls the anguli oris posteriorly. Produces the action of sucking.
Mentalis
Tip of the chin. Elevates and protrudes the lower lip. Also wrinkles the skin over the chin.
SCM
originates from the head of the sternum and clavical, and inserts at the mastoid process of the temporal bone. Rotates and depresses the head.
