Roazzi and Bryant
Methodology
- 4-5 year olds had to estimate the number of sweets in a box - one group children worked alone - children worked with the help of an older child
Evaluation
- independent groups design therefore could be individual differences - ecological validity as its not a test of learning - only on 4-5 year olds and therefore low population validity - no cause and effect can be established
Findings
-children who worked alone failed to give a good estimate - children who worked with older children (experts) who offered prompts were able to master the task
Conclusion
The involvement of a MKO helped improve the accuracy of the child and therefore demonstrates the ZPD of the child being used
Aim
To investigate if children can achieve difficult tasks with the help of an adult
