Resting State

Gated Na+ and K+ channels are closed. Ungatef channels maintain the resting potential

Falling Phase

Sodium channels become inactivated blocking Na+. K+ channels open allowing the outflow to make the inside Negative

Undershoot

Sodium channels to close. Some K+ channels will open. Return to resting state

Depolarization

Stimulus opens Sodium channels. Na+ flows through the channels and depolarizes the membrane. If it reaches the threshold it triggers action potential
