Why did Mandela believe satyagraha was more of a useful tactic than moral principle?
He believed it was more useful as a tactic and not moral principle because the peaceful resistance only works if your opponent follows the same rules as you. But Mandela's opponent met peaceful protest with violence. That meant the strategy was simply ineffective.
