Science Ch. 2 Lesson : How do plants absorb food?
How does the deforestation of plants affect the environment?
As you know, oxygen comes from plants. If the cutting of trees, bushes, and other plants still happens, then we could not breath fresh air outside.
Choroplasts
Cells in plant leaves that absorb sunlight
How do plants get their sunlight?
Cells named chloroplasts use grana and chlorophyll to absorb light and split water molecules to release oxygen into the air.
What happens before oxygen is released into the air?
During a series of chemical reactions from hydrogen and water, carbon dioxide joins with hydrogen to form sugars for the plant.
When does a stomata open?
It often opens during daylight when photosynthesis occurs, allowing carbon dioxide into the plant.
Where are cells that perform photosynthesis mostly found?
Most of the cells that perform photosynthesis are found lying below the epidermis. These cells are arranged with many spaces so materials can flow.
chlorophyll
Pigment that is located inside chloroplasts and grana
On the plant, where can stomata be found?
Stomata can be found everywhere in the epidermises on the plant, which are found either below or above the plant's vein parts.
leaf blades
The flat part of plant leaves which can be one blade, or multiple blades
What important task do the veins of the plant perform?
The long veins of plants perform the task of carrying materials in and out of them. That serves to connect the leaf's photosynthesis cells to the rest of the plant.
Stomata
The opening of a plant that is controlled by specialized structures
Grana
The tiny flat sacs that help the chloroplasts absorb light
