Science Fusion Grade 4 Unit 6 Lesson 4 - What are the planets in our solar system
Planet
A planet is a large round body that revolves around a star in a clear orbit
Solar system
A solar system is made up of a star and the planets and other bodies that revolve around it.
Describe the outer planets
Each planet has many moons orbiting it, These distant planets are giant planets, because of the distant from the sun these planets are cold.
Describe the sun
It is the star and it is center of our solar system.

What is an asteroid?
a small rocky body orbiting the sun It is made up of rock and metal
What is a life zone?
is the region of space where the temperature range allows life to thrive.
Name the hottest planet
Venus
What is a comet?
an object made of gas, ice, and dust that orbits around the sun
What type of planet is Pluto?
a dwarf planet
Which planets have probes from Earth landed?
The inner planets
How are the inner planets different from the outer planets?
The inner planets are those closest to the sun. The outer planets are those farthest from the sun. The outer planets are giant balls of gases. These planets are larger and less dense than the inner planets. Compared to the outer planets, the inner planets are small balls of rock that have relatively large, solid cores. The outer planets are huge balls of gas; some are thought to have very small, solid cores.
Describe the inner planets
The planets have no rings around them, have one or two moons, the planets diameters are smaller the the outer planets.
