Workers' Compensation Insurance

a form of insurance providing wage replacement and medical benefits to employees injured in the course of employment in exchange for mandatory relinquishment of the employee's right to sue his or her employer for the tort of negligence.

Errors and Omissions Insurance (Professional Liability Insurance)

a form of liability insurance that helps protect professional advice- and service-providing individuals and companies from bearing the full cost of defending against a negligence claim made by a client, and damages awarded in such a civil lawsuit.

Business Interruption Insurance

a type of insurance that covers the loss of income that a business suffers after a disaster. The income loss covered may be due to disaster-related closing of the business facility or due to the rebuilding process after a disaster.

Commercial Renter's Insurance

cover damage or destruction of property due to fire, vandalism, adverse weather conditions, and other common risks. Standard commercial property coverage also includes insurance against theft of property.

General Liability Insurance

coverage that can protect you from a variety of claims including bodily injury, property damage, personal injury and others that can arise from your business operations.

Builder's Risk Insurance

coverage that protects a person's or organization's insurable interest in materials, fixtures and/or equipment being used in the construction or renovation of a building or structure should those items sustain physical loss or damage from a covered cause.

Crime Insurance

insurance to manage the loss exposures resulting from criminal acts such as robbery, burglary and other forms of theft. It is also called "fidelity insurance". Many businesses purchase crime insurance that allows them to file claims for employee theft or other offenses with the potential to cause financial ruin.

Malpractice Insurance

is one type of professional liability insurance which protects physicians and other licensed health care professionals (e.g., dentist, nurse) from liability associated with wrongful practices resulting in bodily injury, medical expenses and property damage, as well as the cost of defending lawsuits related to such claims.

Umbrella Liability Policy

A policy designed to provide protection against catastrophic losses. It generally is written over various primary liability policies, such as the business auto policy (BAP), commercial general liability (CGL) policy, watercraft and aircraft liability policies, and employers liability coverage. The umbrella policy serves three purposes: it provides excess limits when the limits of underlying liability policies are exhausted by the payment of claims; it drops down and picks up where the underlying policy leaves off when the aggregate limit of the underlying policy in question is exhausted by the payment of claims; and it provides protection against some claims not covered by the underlying policies, subject to the assumption by the named insured of a self-insured retention (SIR).

Business Identity Theft Insurance

Business Identity Theft Insurance provides legal liability coverage to businesses that are victims of data theft. Such policies can also provide coverage to notify customers whose personal identification information may have been compromised and pay for services to provide identity theft recovery services for customers.

Ordinance or Law Insurance

Coverage for loss caused by enforcement of ordinances or laws regulating construction and repair of damaged buildings. Older structures that are damaged may need upgraded electrical; heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC); and plumbing units based on city codes. Many communities have a building ordinance(s) requiring that a building that has been damaged to a specified extent (typically 50 percent) must be demolished and rebuilt in accordance with current building codes rather than simply repaired.

Data Breach Insurance

To mitigate the risk of civil litigation and other penalties when a data loss or theft occurs, a cyber-liability or data breach insurance policy from The Hartford can provide access to professional assistance to help businesses comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Commercial Property Insurance

helps businesses, including farms and ranches, pay to repair or replace property that was damaged by a fire, storm, or other event covered by the policy. It also pays to replace stolen or lost property.

Commercial Auto Insurance

like your personal auto policy, provides similar coverages such as liability, collision, comprehensive, medical payments (or personal injury protection) and uninsured motorist coverage.

Product Liability Insurance

protects businesses in the event that a product causes bodily harm or property damage. It can cover those who sell, distribute, repair or manufacture products.
