What is Tay Sachs
Tay-Sachs disease is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disorder that affects the nervous system. It occurs when the body lacks (Hex-A), a protein that breaks down gangliosides, a chemical found in nerve tissue. Gangliosides would then grow indefinitely in cells, causing progressive damage.
