Everyone is surprised because *none* of them wrote it. Not one of them knew where Security had been left, and even Toby who wrote the first two answers, did not write this one.

He calls April to make urgent plans to talk to her and Melanie at recess the next day.

He fakes a sprained ankle so that he can have an excuse to be at the parallel bars to talk to Melanie and April without raising suspicion of the other boys at school.

They react in awe, because again, no had seen the words being written and they didn't sound like anything a kid would write. Some of them are ready to stop playing the game because it is getting weird and creepy.
