Unit 2
Describe how choosing materials may be important in both structural and decorative design.
A good answer will include mentions of structural integrity and aesthetic quality. In the case of structural design, some materials won't hold up when the object is used (think about the three little pigs' houses of straw and sticks). Therefore, one must choose materials that will aid in the function of the object. In the case of decorative design, a carved wooden chair has a different look and feel than an upholstered chair. The different materials will change the aesthetic quality.
