Unit 3 CPR/CCO/AED Definitions and Quiz
Good Samaritan Law
Provides basic legal protection in cases where a person is treating the injury on another. For example, If a person is injured and rendered unconscious in a car accident, someone who finds them and gives first aid is protected if they should make things worse or if the victim doesn't survive. Two conditions must be met in order for these laws to be enforced; the first says aid must be given at the scene of injury, and the victim must give their aid without expecting a reward. This law does not state that medical assistance from a bystander must be performed, however, it is considered negligence by some. If the person is conscious and responsive, the law advises you to seek permission before continuing with assistance.

CPR
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. Used as a medical technique used to keep oxygen and blood flowing through the body even if the heart had stopped. It is recommended that CCO-CPR is performed over conventional CPR (alternating chest compressions with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation).
CCO
Chest-Compression-Only is a branch of CPR that is becoming the preferred methods of treatment during cardiac arrest. By pumping at a rate of 100 per minute, oxygen and blood continue to flow throughout the body, bring up the chance of survival.
