What are common ways to move files?

-One common method is to copy or cut the file and then paste it in another location. -Another common method, called drag and drop , is to click and drag the file where you want the file to be moved.

A file manager or file browser is a computer program that allows a user interface to work with files. File managers offer the user a way to create, open, view, edit, print, rename, move, copy, delete, and find files or groups of files. In a file manager, files can usually be displayed in a hierarchical structure, which involves grouping the files to show which folder files and other folders are in. Two common examples of file managers are Windows Explorer and Mac OS X Finder.

What is a nested folder?

A nested folder is a folder that is placed within another folder. For example, you may create two nested folders called Applications and Cover Letters to store inside of the folder named Colleges.

How can you protect your computer?

Back up the system. Have reinstallation operating system software available. Install firewall software. Install antivirus software. Update the operating system. Avoid installing questionable software. Protect the system with a password. Choose your web browser carefully. Use e-mail with good spam protection. Keep food and beverages away from computers to prevent spills and crumbs.

What are common computer threats?

Examples of common threats: -Hardware failure due to it wearing out -Power surges -Accidents such as spilled drinks -Software problems such as bugs or misconfiguration -User errors such as accidentally deleting or overwriting files -Theft of hardware or data -Malware such as viruses

What is file management?

File management is the manipulation of data files on a computer using a file manager. File management includes creating, saving, editing, moving, and deleting files.

What are system management tools?

System management tools are tools that enable computer administrators to manage and configure computer and network resources. A subset of system management tools are available for users to manage files on their computer system. System management tools can be used to view logs about events, for file and folder copying, for security, and to manage shared folders.

What is the event viewer?

The Event Viewer is a file management tool used to manage and see events that are recorded in the Application, Security, and System logs. Administrators look at these events to find out more about security events and to find software, hardware, and system problems. In Windows operating systems, this tool is called Event Viewer, and in Mac OS X, it is called Console.

What are viruses?

Viruses are software programs that can spread from one computer to another. Some viruses can damage files, slow the computer down, or cause other unwanted effects.

What is icon view?

When you use icon view, each file looks like an image that represents the type of file it is. The name of the file is also shown.

What is list view?

When you use list view, the files appear in a list with a smaller version of the image from the icon view.

What is detail view?

When you use the details view, files appear as a list of file names, with small images for each file type, and more details about each file such as how big the file is.
