Sworn into Office on March of 1913, at the age of 56. When in Office, Wilson passed the Underwood- Simmons Act (Revenue Act of 1913) which made tariffs on manufactured goods substantially reduced, and many raw materials were exempt from import taxes.

2

The 28th U.S. president, having serving in office from 1913 to 1921 and led America through World War I (1914-1918). Often ranked by historians as one of the nation's greatest presidents because he was an advocate for financial justice, world peace, and gender and social equality. Woodrow Wilson was a college professor, university president and Democratic governor of New Jersey and should be voted in the Hall of Fame for various reasons.

1

About a year later, the Allies forced Germany to sign a truce on November 11, 1918 to officially end WW1, also now formally known as Veterans Day.

10

Next year, in January 1919 came the Treaty Of Versailles held at the Paris Peace Conference. The treaty included the permission for the League of Nations, an organization intended to settle international disputes and prevent future wars

11

Wilson had initially advanced the idea for the League of Nations in a January 1918 speech to the U.S. Congress in which he outlined his "Fourteen Points" for a postwar peace settlement.

12

However it was never fully agreed upon and in January 1920 the League of Nations held their first meeting BUT without the United States.

13

Although in December of 1920, Wilson was awarded the 1919 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to include the Covenant (agreement) of the League of Nations in the Treaty of Versailles.

14

Fortunately, his second term came with a little more ease. The 18th amendment went into effect a year after it was ratified by Congress which banned the manufacture, sale and transportation of alcohol.

15

However Wilson did not like this and vetoed the amendment quickly. Congress quickly fired back overriding his executive action and the Prohibition ended up lasting until 1933, when it was repealed by the 21st Amendment.

16

Women's right to vote, also known as the 19th amendment was another HUGE accomplishment by Woodrow Wilson.

17

Wilson pushed Congress to pass the amendment in 1920 and in the same year, they did. That year's presidential election-the first in which women from every state were allowed to vote-resulted in a victory for Republican Warren Harding (1865-1923), a congressman from Ohio who opposed the League of Nations and campaigned for a "return to normalcy" after Wilson's time in the White House.

18

After leaving Office Wilson settled in Washington where he was sick almost every day. This prevented him from doing a lot of the work he wanted to on his own law firm and Wilson eventually passed away at his home on February 3, 1924, at age 67. He was buried in the Washington National Cathedral, the only president to be buried in the nation's capital.

19

Also later passing legislation establishing the Federal Reserve (which provides a system for regulating the nation's banks, credit and money supply) and the Federal Trade Commission (which investigates and prohibits unfair business practices).

4

These were one of Wilson's first accomplishments because by reducing taxes on goods helped promote healthy and competitive trade, lower consumer prices and support continued economic growth with fair business practices in the United States.

5

The Allies (Serbia, Russia, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium and the United States) and the Central Powers ( Austria-Hungary, Germany, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire) in WW1 completely controlled Wilson's second term.

6

Wilson desperately wanted peace between the nations but Germany was pressuring the U.S. In early 1917 German submarines launched unrestricted submarine attacks against U.S. merchant ships.

7

Around the same time, the United States learned about the Zimmerman Telegram, a secret message sent to Mexico from Germany to persuade them to form an alliance against United States.

8

Then on April 2, 1917, Wilson famously requested that Congress declare war on Germany with the famous words,"The world must be made safe for democracy."
