Prevent
Address needs of clients with/w/o disability who are at risk for occupational performance problems Hinders occurrence or evolution of barrier to performance in context Directed at client, context, or activity variables
Maintain
Approach to provide supports that will allow clients to PRESERVE performance capabilities they have regained, that continue to meet their occupational needs, or both Assumption: without continued maintenance, performance would deteriorate and/or occupation would not be met *Used with clients with degenerative health conditions... think palliative care as example
Establish/ Restore
Designed to CHANGE CLIENT variables (establish- new skill/ ability; restore- skill/ability that has been impaired) Identify skill impairment Design interventions that develop, enhance, or improve person's skills and abilities
Create/Promote
Does NOT assume a disability is present or that any aspect would interfere with performance Provide enriched contextual and activity experiences that will ENHANCE performance for ALL PEOPLE in natural contexts of life *Essentially... Promote Wellness!
