Imisicble

(of liquids) not forming a homogeneous mixture when added together.

Colloid

A colloid is a solution that has particles ranging between 1 and 1000 nanometers in diameter, yet are still able to remain evenly distributed throughout the solution. These are also known as colloidal dispersions because the substances remain dispersed and do not settle to the bottom of the container.

Heterogenous mixture

A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture that composes of components that aren't uniform or they have localized regions that all have different properties. Despite the term appearing to be highly scientific, there are various common substances that are heterogeneous mixtures.

Homogenous mixture

A homogeneous mixture has the same uniform appearance and composition throughout. Many homogeneous mixtures are commonly referred to as solutions. A heterogeneous mixture consists of visibly different substances or phases. The three phases or states of matter are gas, liquid, and solid.

Alloy

A solid or liquid mixture of two or more metals

Solvent

A solvent (from the Latin solvō, "I loosen, untie, I solve") is a substance that dissolves a solute (a chemically different liquid, solid or gas), resulting in a solution. A solvent is usually a liquid but can also be a solid or a gas.

Solution

In chemistry, a solution is a homogeneous mixture composed of two or more substances. In such a mixture, a solute is a substance dissolved in another substance, known as a solvent.

Tyndall effect

The Tyndall effect, also known as Tyndall scattering, is light scattering by particles in a colloid or else particles in a very fine suspension. It is named after the 19th-century physicist John Tyndall.

Emulsion

a fine dispersion of minute droplets of one liquid in another in which it is not soluble or miscible.

Solute

in another substance, known as a solvent. The solution more or less takes on the characteristics of the solvent including its phase, and the solvent is commonly the major fraction of the mixture.

Decanting

process for the separation of mixtures, by removing a layer of liquid, generally one from which a precipitate has settled. The purpose may be either to produce a clean decant, or to remove undesired liquid from the precipitate (or other layers).

Distillation

the action of purifying a liquid by a process of heating and cooling.

Suspension

the action of suspending someone or something or the condition of being suspended, in particular.
