9-2
Isolated system
A closed system on which the net external force is zero.
Closed system
A system that does not gain or lose mass
Law of conservation of angular momentum
States that if there are no external torques on a closed system, then its angular momentum is conserved.
Law of conservation of momentum
States that the momentum of any closed isolated system does not change.
How does newton third law
"According to Newton's third law of motion and the law of conservation of momentum, the forces exerted by colliding objects on each other are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. Under which conditions is momentum conserved?
"Momentum is conserved in a closed, isolated system. pf = pi The law of conservation of momentum relates the momentums of objects before and after a collision. Use vector analysis to solve momentum-conservation problems in two dimensions. "
"How can the law of conservation of momentum and the law of conservation of angular momentum help explain the motion of objects? " n
"The law of conservation of angular momentum states that if there are no external torques acting on a system, then the angular momentum is conserved. Lf = Li Because angular momentum is conserved, the direction of rotation of a spinning object can be changed only by applying a torque. " Excerpt From: Paul W. Zitzewitz, David G. Haase & Kathleen A.
