Throughout the story and especially at the end, Nora breaks away from Torvald who treats her like a doll. Her friend, who is a widow decides to find herself a job instead of just be a stay at home mom or a sad widow. She also took initiative when Torvald almost died and at the end realized that she has basic rights and doesn't need to depend on him for things.
